Harry Potter Moment of the Week

Harry Potter MOTW

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows. The idea is to get Harry Potter fans together and discuss our favorite things about the series; be it a favorite moment, character, magical item, spell, quote or object from the books, films or J.K Rowling herself.

I love Harry Potter and the questions looked really fun so I thought I’d join in with this meme.

This week is: If you had to use one, which Unforgivable Curse would you use?

Bella Killing Curse

I’d hate to use any Unforgivable curse. They’re called that for a reason.

I know that I couldn’t use Avada Kedavra. Just no. The idea of the Cruciatus curse makes me want to be sick. How could you torture another human? Or another living thing, whether it’s a human or an animal? It’s such a disgusting spell.

I suppose I’m left with the Imperius curse. The Imperius curse takes away a person’s free will and even though Harry uses it in the books I think that it’s an awful spell. However, if I had to use an Unforgivable I would have to choose the Imperius curse because I couldn’t kill anyone and I couldn’t torture anyone either.

Total control. I could make it jump out the window, drown itself, throw itself down one of your throats… – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling

(I couldn’t find a GIF of the Imperius curse so I just used a GIF of Bellatrix killing Sirius. Sorry)

What Unforgivable would you use?

  1. Interesting question! I never really thought about this before. I suppose I would go with the same as you; the Inperius curse is the least harmful of them all (still terrible to use, of course, but better than Avada Kedavra or the Cruciatus curse.)
