Teaser Tuesday (7th July 2015)

TT (2)

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by A Daily Rhythm. All you have to do is:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!(make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week my teaser is:

The Great Room still had many of the same touches: the massive statue of Thoth in the middle, Amos’s collection of weapons and jazz instruments along the wall, the snakeskin rug in front of the garage-size fireplace. But you could tell that twenty young magicians lived here now as well.

– p.48, The Kane Chronicles: The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan

This is my second teaser from a Rick Riordan book in two weeks. Throne of Fire coverI’m only 35% of this book so far, despite starting it last year, but I’m enjoying it now that I’ve got time to read it. This book is the second installment of The Kane Chronicles trilogy, following on from the first book, The Red Pyramidand preceding the final book, The Serpent’s ShadowThese books focus on Egyptian mythology instead of the Greek and Roman mythology found in Riordan’s other books.

    1. I love his work. I’m probably going to have a few of his books to review by the end of this month if I finish all the books that I’ve started. Which book are you reviewing?

  1. I’ve wanted to read Riordan for a while, but just haven’t yet. Now I’m waiting for his Norse books to start, and then I may go back and read his existing ones. Looking forward to it though…great tease!

    1. Although The Kane Chronicles could be read at any time you should probably start with the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a great intro to Riordan’s books 🙂
