Harry Potter Moment of the Week – 29th October 2015

Harry Potter MOTW

Harry Potter Moment of the Week is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows. The idea is to get Harry Potter fans together and discuss our favorite things about the series; be it a favorite moment, character, magical item, spell, quote or object from the books, films or J.K Rowling herself.

This week is: Favorite new bit of information since the series has been over? From Pottermore or JKR herself.

My reaction to ‘new information’ from J K Rowling.

Additional information normally annoys me because I feel like Rowling is still trying to control the Harry Potter story when she really has no right to. I don’t like it when she mocks her fans for liking certain characters (like Draco Malfoy). And the information about Lily being pregnant when she died was just unnecessary.

Oh, and saying the ‘t’ in Voldemort is silent after 18 years and 8 films is just pathetic. Sorry.

However, I do like the information about the Harry Potter universe, like wand-lore, locations, different wizarding schools, etc. It’s not major information but it brings the universe to life a bit more. Rowling should stick to information like that rather than trying to change the story.

On a side note, I really don’t like the new Pottermore website. I miss the game and being able to sign into my account. I just hate it. It’s such a shame.

  1. I feel like whenever I don’t like any new information from authors after the series end, I take it with a grain of salt. It’s after the series so whatever. I did like all of the extra character background info she put out on Pottermore, but I haven’t been on since the new site launched.
