Hi everyone! Happy Christmas Eve. I was tagged by the lovely Deanna and Summer to do the 12 Days of Christmas book tag!

Currently, my favourite stand alone is Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. I do hope she writes a sequel though.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

The Hunger Games. I love that trilogy so much.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

This is such a hard question! I love so many different series’. Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Heroes of Olympus, The Millennium series, and Harry Potter. Hmm. I’ll have to choose Harry Potter.

Draco Malfoy is my favourite antagonist. My favourite villain is probably Mrs Coulter from Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series.

Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

I love the Discworld by Terry Pratchett. But also Middle Earth from J. R. R. Tolkien’s works.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level? 

I’m going to have to say Harry Potter. It includes all of my childhood sweets, like Ice Mice, but they’re given a magical twist. I love the fact that you can buy things like Chocolate Frogs now too.

Amy from Gone Girl. She’s just an amazing female lead.

How about your favourite leading lad?

Percy Jackson. I love all of the series’ that he’s in. I could have chosen Gansey from The Raven Boys or Harry Potter but I love Percy.

the war of the worldsWhat is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

Hmm. I’m going to go with a book that’s been turned into a musical. Sort of. The first time I ever encountered The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells was through the musical version by Jeff Wayne. It’s just amazing.

Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

The Raven Boys, The Dream Thieves, Blue Lily, Lily Blue, The Maze Runner, The Mark of Athena, and so many more.

If I have to choose just one though I’ll say The Raven Boys.

  1. Nice answers, Amy! This post really reminded me that I need to pick up and read The Raven Boys. I’ve read Stiefvater’s The Wolves of Mercy Falls series at least 6+ years ago and liked them. And I’ve heard the bromance in TRB is so believable and makes the story so cohesive.
