The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe
I only read a few pages of this book this week. So I haven’t even marked it on Goodreads.
I am enjoying it but it reminds me of a Jane Austen novel so far. (Austen does reference this book in Northanger Abbey so that’s not a surprise). I’m hoping the plot picks up a bit soon but the book is huge so I might have to wait a bit longer.
I should have this finished by the end of the month. I’ll have more time to read next week because I hand my assignments in on Tuesday. They’ve been holding me back.
I’ll review this book as soon as I’ve completed it.
The Monk by Matthew Lewis
I’ve made progress with The Monk this week even though I only spent one night reading it. I’ve currently read 18%.
I’m still enjoying this. It’s very dark and grim which I like. I don’t think I’ve got to the most gruesome parts of this novel yet but I am looking forward to them.
I should have this book finished before the end of January. I will be writing a review as soon as I’ve completed this book so hopefully that should be posted before the end of the month too.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling
I started this book on the 10th of January when I really should have been concentrating on Udolpho and The Monk. I’ve read 66% of this book in just a few days.
I will have this book finished before the end of the month. There’s no doubt about that.
Hopefully I’ll have time to review this book before the month is over too.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J. K. Rowling
This is the second book that I’ve completed in 2016.
I really enjoyed re-reading this! It brought back so many memories and I can’t wait to get into Chamber of Secrets.
I should have a review up by Saturday.
What I’m reading next:
Kraken by China Miéville
I’m going to start this book as soon as I’ve finished one of the others. I think I would have started it sooner but last week was very hectic because I had assignments due in. I didn’t really get a chance to read because I was so busy writing.
I wanted to have it finished by the end of January and I still think that’s possible. Hopefully.
