I just saw the Currently Reading Tag over at Literary Weaponry and I thought I’d give it a go on this very dreary Monday afternoon. It rains so much in the UK and I wish that it didn’t.
How many books do you usually read at once?
I used to read several books at once but I realised that I couldn’t concentrate on a book when I was doing this. So, now I’ll only start a new book when I’ve finished the book that I’m currently reading. Except when it comes to books for university because I’m reading about 20 at the moment. Oops.
If you’re reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?
I used to switch books depending on my mood which meant that sometimes I was reading four or five books at the same time. It wasn’t great.
Do you ever switch bookmarks while you’re partway through a book?
I love pretty bookmarks but I use anything as a bookmark, to be honest. Receipts make great bookmarks. I don’t change them when I’m reading a book because it’s just too much effort.
Where do you keep the book(s) you’re currently reading?
Either at the side of the sofa, next to where I sit, or I just put it back on my bookshelves because then I’m not looking everywhere for it. The books I’m currently reading for university are either in my bag or my desk drawer.
What time of day do you spend the most time reading?
I read all the time. I try to restrict the times that I read for pleasure to my commute to and from university and in the evening after I’ve finished my work for the day. The rest of the day is for university books.
How long do you typically read in one sitting?
It depends on where I am. If I’m on holiday, especially if I’m abroad, I will read all day without doing anything else. Usually, I read for about two hours at a time but if I get the chance I will spend all day reading.
Do you read hardbacks with the dust jacket on or off?
Since I only read hardbacks at home I leave the dust jacket on unless it’s really annoying to deal with.
What position do you mainly use to read?
I’ve never really thought about this. I just read in any position that’s comfortable.
Do you take the book you’re currently reading with you everywhere you go?
Most of the time, yes. As long as it’s a paperback it will be in my bag so that I can read it on my journeys to and from uni. I don’t take it with me if I’m going to the cinema or for dinner or anything like that. That would be weird.
How often do you update your Goodreads progress on the book you’re currently reading?
I try to update it every time I put the book down but that just doesn’t work. Sometimes I just mark it as started and then I update my progress when I’ve finished the book. I’m lazy like that.
That’s it for this tag! If you’re interested in doing it then I’m tagging you right now.
