Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I Liked In Books I Disliked

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme brought to you by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was previously hosted at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s topic is: Characters I liked That Were In Books I Disliked

I found this topic fairly difficult so I’ve just chosen three characters.

angels-bloodDmitri from Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh

I disliked this book so much (and hated the only sequel that I read) and I did not like the main characters at all. They were just awful and some of the worst characters I’ve ever encountered. However, I did like Dmitri because he was funny, loyal, and savage. A few of the other characters were great too and they shared Dmitri’s savage qualities.

Northanger AbbeyHenry Tilney from Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

Henry Tilney is one of Austen’s greatest creations and no-one can convince me otherwise. He’s intelligent, enjoys reading novels, and is rather cynical. He’s my perfect man. Well, he would be if I was an eighteenth-century middle-class woman. I also really like the other characters in this book. It’s just the plot that I don’t like.

GrownupNameless Main Character from The Grownup by Gillian Flynn

The Grownup wasn’t my favourite book ever. I liked bits of it and disliked a lot of it. One of the bits I did like was the nameless main character. She was devious, mysterious, and cunning.
