TBR Update: Recently Removed Books

TBR Update_ Recently RemovedCompared to other people, my TBR really isn’t that long but that’s because I generally try to keep it 100 books or less. I tend to only add more when I’ve cleared a significant portion of the books that are already on there. Sometimes, I purge my TBR of books that no longer appeal to me, for one reason or another, and that’s the focus of today’s post: books I have recently removed from my TBR.

duneDune by Frank Herbert

I’ve had this book on my shelf for such a long time and I really did want to read it but my interest has waned recently. I’m still going to keep it on my shelf because it was a gift, and I may want to read it one day, but it has been removed from my TBR for now. If I do end up reading it then it’ll be for a challenge, like the Classics Club Challenge.

the midnight lineJack Reacher series by Lee Child

I have a few unread Jack Reacher books on my shelves but, thankfully, I haven’t bought all of them yet. I’m going to attempt to read the ones that I own (One Shot, The Hard Way, Gone Tomorrow, Personal, Make Me, and Night School) but I’m not buying any more and I’m not adding them to my TBR. I’ve definitely grown out of the Jack Reacher series which is a shame because I really enjoyed the first few that I read. Oh well.

Romantic OutlawsRomantic Outlaws by Charlotte Gordon

As much as I love both Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley, I need to be honest with myself. I am never going to buy/borrow this book, let alone read it, so I’m removing it from my TBR. Biographies just aren’t my thing. I’d much rather read Mary Wollstonecraft’s letters and journals and the works of Mary Shelley than a biography about them written.

Miss Peregrine'sMiss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

I never reach for these books and they’ve been on my TBR for a while now so I think it’s time that I donated them. Sometimes you just have to let books go and that’s what I’ll be doing with these two. I’m not even sure why I bought them in the first place. I must have been caught up in the hype or been convinced by the film. I blame Eva Green for looking so good in the trailers.
