The Sunday Post #137

The Sunday Post is hosted by Caffeinated Book ReviewerSunday Salon is hosted by Readerbuzz.

This post is an opportunity to recap the past week on my blog and in my personal life. It’s also a chance to set up some goals for the upcoming week and share the music/films/TV shows/podcasts that I’ve loved this week.

I returned to the office for a couple of days and promptly remembered why I prefer working from home! My desk is a PhD space, where PhD students are supposed to be working on their research, but a group of first-year PhD students have moved in to the workspace and all they do is talk. About things I really, really don’t want to hear about. I’ve asked them to be quiet a couple of times because I can hear them over loud music and noise-cancelling headphones but will not shut up.

After the disaster of returning to the office, I decided to treat myself by going to IKEA. I’m in the middle of cleaning out my bedroom so that I can decorate it in the spring and I went to IKEA for inspiration. I’m going to have a feature wall but I can’t decide between blush/millennial pink and sage green. I do know that my room will be filled with plants because I love them. Plants and books. I came home from IKEA with a teapot and a new cactus so I’m counting that as a success.

This Week's Posts

This Week's Posts (1)

Lord Edgware Dies by Agatha Christie – It took me longer to finish this than I expected because this week has been hectic! I didn’t have time to read much so I didn’t pick this up for an entire week. Oops. I did really enjoy it though.

Things I'm Loving

We’ve Done Something Wonderful by Epik High – This isn’t a new album, it’s from 2017, but I’ve listened to it non-stop this week. I love every single song but my favourites are People Scare Me and No Thanxxx. Here Come the Regrets is amazing too. I love Epik High and if they’re not in my top 5 Spotify artists of 2020 then I’m going to be disappointed with myself.

回: Labyrinth by GFriend – I’ve potentially found another K-Pop girl group that I love! This style of music isn’t what I’d usually listen to but I watched the MV for Crossroads (which is amazing, by the way) since it popped up on my recommended and I really fell in love with it. I listened to the rest of the EP and I loved every single song. My favourites were Labyrinth and Dreamcatcher.

Also, the music video for Crossroads is absolutely beautiful. Do I understand the storyline yet? No. But I will.

To-Do List

  • Finish one book
  • Write a review for The Unspoken Name (ARC)
  • Send draft to supervisors
  • Plan out chapter four of thesis
  • See Parasite at the cinema
  • Take 35mm film to be developed

I hope everyone had a great week!

  1. After reading your post, I’ve just remembered that I may need to get started on cleaning out my house if I wanted to get a head start on some decoration plans this Spring. Ugh – if I could make more time in my schedule. I guess I just need to stay put and figure this out.

Sorry that your return back to work didn’t go too well. I know what you mean – I’m not much of a talker at work and it bugs me when there’s a lot of talking and not enough work going on some days. (Usually those are the days I’m too busy and overworked.)

    1. It takes so much time to clean before decorating! I hope you can figure out a schedule soon.

I know I’m stressed because I’m coming up to a massive deadline so that doesn’t help my mood but some of the lecturers (who have offices close to our office space) have asked them to keep quiet so perhaps it’s not just me being irritable for once 😅

  2. I get so crazy when I’m trying to work and the people around me are distracting. That is something I will never be able to understand.

I’m glad you were able to finish your Agatha Christie book. I will pass along your thoughts to my sister-in-law who is a big Agatha fan.

I hope the week goes well for you.

    1. It’s so difficult but I guess we all work in different ways! I’m definitely going to work from home or work in the library in future 🙂

      Have a wonderful week!

  3. Popped over to your review of The Lifted Veil. Seems like something I should have on my Classics Club list!

Rather pleased that Parasite did well at the Oscars. I haven’t seen but everyone I follow has given it good reviews.

    1. You should! It’s a very short story, around 100 pages, but it’s great 🙂

I’m so glad Parasite did well at the Oscars. I don’t usually follow the awards that closely but it did make history! I’m going to see it tomorrow and I’m very excited.
