The Sunday Post #149

The Sunday Post is hosted by Caffeinated Book ReviewerSunday Salon is hosted by Readerbuzz.

This post is an opportunity to recap the past week on my blog and in my personal life. It’s also a chance to set up some goals for the upcoming week and share the music/films/TV shows/podcasts that I’ve loved this week.

It was my birthday this week. I don’t usually do much on my birthday – my day usually involves going to the cinema to see the latest Marvel film and eating McDonald’s fries – but it was weird because I couldn’t do anything at all. It’s not the worst birthday I’ve ever had but it was one of the strangest, mainly because I spent the entire day craving fries.

Valperga by Mary Shelley – This was an interesting book. I’ll have a review up at some point next week (or perhaps the week after) but I have a lot of thoughts about this book.

  1. Happy birthday! I wish I could send you some fries. Apparently there are oodles and oodles in Idaho right now. Here’s a link to the happy birthday song of my wonderful friend, Tish: You can’t watch this little video and not feel a bit more cheery.

Mexican Gothic, eh? I can’t wait to see what you think. My mom loved gothics, reading them exclusively. She’d have loved this one, I’m sure.

Have a great week. This, too, shall pass.

    1. Thank you! That’s such a cheerful video, thank you for linking it 🙂

Gothic is one of my favourite genres and this one looks really interesting. I’m sure she’d have loved it.

  2. A very happy belated birthday! And yes… I’ve the arc for Mexican Gothic and I’m really looking forward to tucking into it as she is a really talented and original author. I hope the coming week is a good one, Amy:)

  3. Happy birthday!
It’s so strange… I was saying to my husband yesterday that this weekend we should be at the cinema watching Black Widow as is usual for the May day weekend but this year there’s nothing. 😦
I hope you get to watch a Marvel movie, have those fries and celebrate when this all passes!

    1. Thank you! Yeah, it feels really weird to break a yearly tradition but fingers crossed we’ll both get to see Black Widow when this is all over 🙂

  4. Happy Birthday! 🍟🥳
I’m sorry you didn’t get your fries. It’s my sons birthday on Thursday and he has asked for fries (we call them hot chips) and luckily I can oblige as takeout is still available here, just not dine in.

Wishing you a great reading week

    1. We call them chips here too but I always call them fries online to avoid confusion! I wish we still had takeout/drive thru but alas, at the moment we have nothing. I’m glad your son gets to have them for his birthday though 🙂
